Introduction I am a researcher in taste, smell and flavour perception, especially the origins of food preferences. I hold a PhD in psychology (University of New South Wales, 1986), and have held academic positions in Australia and New Zealand, as well as honorary research positions in the UK, USA and Italy. I have taught basic and advanced courses in human perception and learning, the psychology of hedonics, and sensory science. Since 2005, I have been Editor, Food Quality and Preference, the leading journal for sensory/consumer science, and am also a member of the executive editorial board of Chemosensory Perception. I have authored 80+ journal articles and 16 book chapters on topics including cross-cultural taste preferences, perception of pungency, the genetics of taste perception, and flavour perception and preference. ……...........................................................................
