| Introduction | I was told that I couldn't run, ever. I was born with a birth defect which left me with a stove-pipe leg, a smaller foot and enough metal in my leg to make you not want to be behind me at airport security. Prior to being told I couldn’t run I competed in my first distance event at age 12. During this school fundraiser I “ran” more laps than anyone else but on crutches and a cast. Then the doctors gave me the news that I couldn’t run and for 14 years I believed this, replacing exercise with junk food and eventually hit 252 lbs. At age 26 it was time for change. I started running and dropped 75lbs in 4 months and kept it going from there: 13 marathons (and counting), 50+ half marathons and a solid attempt at the Gobi March, a 250K 6 day ultra in China’s Gobi Desert. Running reminds me constantly of what we are capable of and that our only limits are those that we place upon ourselves. – Steve Price, Founder and owner of Dream Travel |
