| Introduction | I am a 32 year old mom of 5 with a wonderful, supportive husband. I also carry the BRCA2 gene. I have known of my BRCA status for 10 years. Finally, on Nov 30, 2011 I decided to have a double mastectomy to significantly reduce my chances of getting cancer. My mom has fought cancer twice and many on her side have passed from cancer. We never understood why so many were getting cancer until we found that we carried this gene. This blog is for those that need comfort during their time of recovery, other BRCA sisters who are battling surgery decisions, or just friends and family who want to understand. |
