Introduction I am a character who loves meeting other characters. While I may get bored sometimes, I find that life is only boring if you let it be that way. I choose to let life engage me. Even if it does seem overwhelming sometimes. I began my writing career in 1984 at the Baton Rouge Morning Advocate where I worked as a typist. I learned the business from the bottom-up. I talked daily with the publisher, the editors and reporters, the people not on the newsroom floor who were responsible for actually making sure the paper hit the streets in the wee hours of the morning. Since then I've written about all kinds of interesting people and events. I've hunted for 'sang (ginseng), covered religious groups handling poisonous rattlesnakes and hung out with people like Bo Diddley, Naomi Judd and so much more. My husband and I started the first independent arts and news publication covering Asheville and WNC in 1987. It was called 'Out 'n About.' I am also a born and bred Texan, a Methodist minister's daughter, an adoptee who has found and met my biological parents and family and sometimes need to wear a leather eye patch. I enjoy my weirdness. I believe you will also.
