Why does the color blue mean raspberry-flavored?

Well, I actually have synesthesia, which is this nifty little neurological condition that crosses my senses: I can see music, have colors for letters and numbers, and taste colors among other things. So to me, it kinda makes sense for raspberry flavors to be blue--it's a taste that's two different shades of blue, with currant-colored flecks thrown in, and kind of...rounded, I guess, on one side.
