| Introduction | I'm Nick and I started this blog to document my 2012 Appalachian trail NOBO thru-hike with my dog, Bruce. I will be hiking to Springer Mountain, GA on April 15th and moving on towards Katahdin, ME from then on until I make it. Though I have prepared for the trail in many ways and have done some heavy mileage overnight trips I still consider myself a novice outdoorsman at best. I have faith in my ability to persevere and adapt and have no doubts that I will be successful. My best friend Bruce is a 3 1/2 year old (24 dog years?) Mountain Cur mix I adopted from the ASPCA in Largo, FL about 2 years ago. He's 65lbs of solid dog and loves nothing more than adventuring. He's a sweet dog who is loyal, loving, strong, and capable. He will rely on me for guidance, food, and care and I will rely heavily on him for companionship and moral support. He loves to make friends. In the real world I am a 27 year old sales person for a major music instrument retailer and musician from Miami who is now living in Tampa. Why? Too many reasons to list but how about just because I know it will be difficult? That works for me, for now. |
