Introduction So everyday I'm learning, growing, working, loving, fighting, stopping to breathe, learning, growing, working, loving and fighting some more. I'm not perfect and that's now that I'm striving for. I'm on a daily walk with my God and I trust that He'll give me guidance if I trust and obey. I am a Afrocentric Christian with Afrocentric Christian ways and beliefs. I consider myself to be conscious, but a real conscious person realizes that they are never conscious enough. I believe in the liberation of all people from racism, sexism, classism, homophobia and any man-created prejudice that seeks to stifle the life and good intentions of others.
Interests I'm interested in justice, almost to a fault. (Definitely to the point where I should not be taking all these neo-con teacher's classes! They be tryin to fail a sista!) I'm interested in race from a sociological standpoint. (So none of that, "Oh, if we all love one another, racism would go away...." mess. It didn't happen that easily, it can't be fixed that easily.) I'm interested in GOOD music and those who can appreciate it. I'm interested in people. I'm not exactly Ms. Social Butterfly, but I love to observe and converse with people with real and supported opinions. I'm interested in living my life in a way which pleases God, not man. I'm interested in womanist and liberation theology because I believe that God is no respector of persons. I know that "between Christianity and revolution there is NO contradiction."
Favorite Movies In no particular order, Dreamgirls, Deja Vu, The Women of Brewster Place, Mo Better Blues, The Bourne Identity, Vanity Fair, Purple Rain, Captain EO, The Jacksons: An American Dream, Life Is Beautiful, Coming To America, Deliver Us From Eva, The Saint, Bowling For Columbine, Madea's Family Reunion, Minority Report, Yesterday, Sometimes In April, Crash, Something New, Traffic, Tombstone (I'm ya Huckleberry....), Robin Hood: Men In Tights, Malcolm X, Amadeus, Maria Full of Grace (them HBO movies are what's up!), Philadelphia, Purple Rain, etc, etc, etc. Also, anything with Denzel, John Malkovich, Colin Farrell Jeremy Irons, and Val Kilmer is good to me.
Favorite Music Aaaah, where to begin? First and foremost, as cliche as it might sound, Stevie Wonder is the best poet to ever live. Secondly, Michael Jackson is THE best dancer to ever live!!!! Favorite Books Our Endangered Values by President Jimmy Carter, The Age of Unamerican Reason by Susan Jacoby, The Good Earth, The Autobiography of Malcolm X, The Devil And the White City, It's the Little Things: Everyday Interactions That Anger, Annoy, and Divide the Races (the first book I read that told me that I wasn't crazy when it came to racism), The Joy Luck Club, Trying to Sleep In the Bed You Made, Martin and Malcolm: A Dream or A Nightmare, The B.I.B.L.E. (yes that's the book for me!), King Leopold's Ghost, Things Fall Apart, Animal Farm, Weep Not Child, The Politics of Jesus by Obery Hendricks, and a whole host of others that I can't remember right now.
