Introduction	The eager anticipation (and downright impatience) that used to consume me as a child in the days leading up to Christmas has not entirely vanished from my adult life. Too often I am on my tip toes peering over the hedge to what might be ahead. Yet, the reality is that there will always be another hedge, another temptation to escape present reality as my mind dwells in the not-yet-revealed future. I long to halt this mindset...to make it yield to a life that is fully present. And so I choose writing to combat this rather daunting foe. My hope is to write of what has been and what is in order that I might trace God's story through it. I want to faithfully recount the details that he has constructed.
