IntroductionDiagnosed with a Germinoma (brain tumor) October '06. Chemo started 10/24/06 - Cisplatin, Etoposide, Vincristine, and Cyclophospamide spread over 4 sessions crammed into under 3 months. First MRI post (partial) chemo on 12/6/06 showed a 75% reduction in tumor size, and the spinal mets are no longer seen. Second MRI post chemo on 1/12/07 - normal! Four weeks of Proton radiation started 1/25/07 at MD Anderson in Houston. Finished 2/23, and all clear. Follow ups forever... Chase has now vowed to do whatever he can to help in the cause of pediatric cancer. Thus, he has the role as lead athlete with UNC Baseball for their outreach program in supporting Friends of Jaclyn.(www.friendsofjaclyn.org) He has and continues to do speeches for several groups and organizations about his journey and raising awarness for the need of more support for pediatric cancer. When Chase speaks, of course he speaks directly from the heart, and even more so when he speaks about brain tumors. He writes, speaks and tells his own story in order to help heal himself and help others.
