| Introduction | My sweet Kalappal Village. Comprise of 7 villages of Kovil Kalappal, Naduva Kalappal, Naryanapuram Kalappal, Naruvuli Kalappal, Agaram Kalappal, Ariyang kalappal, and Pattamadayan Kalappal. Its key village in the middle of triangle Mannargudi - Thiruthuraipoondi - Muthupet. Total Population around 7000. Agriculture is the main source of income, with scattered small scale industries started doing in & around this place because of ONGC presence & its gas availability. Kovil Kalappal, make it presence felt 20 years ago, when ONGC strikes crude oil at this area. After Narimanam, in cauvery basin Kovil kalappal area have abundant natural gas. But, as because of strong communist party presence & labour issue, this one yet to take-off. Even they planned to setup Thermal Power station here, but because of communist’s agitation/one of influential central minister from DMK, this project shifted to Thirumakottai which is 15 km far from this place got this project.
