| Introduction | By day I'm a lawyer in Chicago. On nights and weekends I'm an amateur oil painter focused mainly on landscape and still life painting "en plein air." In addition to doing my own painting, I enjoy studying the visual arts in all their forms, from all periods. Through this blog I hope to connect with people who share my interest. Painting, for me, is a sort of meditation. Careful focus on light and the substance of nature helps me see beyond the confines of this world and to touch, in a small way, what is essential. Of course I want my paintings to be good, too! |
