| Introduction | The Lands End to John O'Groats ride is the ultimate British cycle adventure and a challenge which has for a long time held a strange(!) attraction. Seeing several friends battle with serious illnesses over recent years has given me the inspiration and motivation to get on with it and not put it off any longer. I'm hoping to do the total distance of 1,000 miles in 16 days, averaging around 65 miles per day. I will be raising funds for Parkinson's Disease Society as my father-in-law has suffered from this disease for a number of years now. A progressively degenerative and currently incurable disease, Parkinson's slowly robs people of their mobility, independence and dignity. Thanks to all of you for your support; raising money, offering me a place to stay along the route, those who are riding sections with me, my parents for driving up to Scotland to support me, and especially my family who are putting up with my growing obsession and lengthening absences when out training.
