Introduction From our cottage in the foothills of Sierra Madre California to our Welsh cottage in the United Queendom, I write travel articles and book reviews, while dreaming of titles and subjects for 'my next book'. As a member of our library's board of Trustees, I write book reviews for the newsletter as well as promote on television our fundraising venture: the annual wine and cuisine tasting. A frustrated performance artist (actress, voice-over performer and enjoyed stage acting as well as radio interviews) has naturally segued into a career in sales: specifically in the travel and Tourism industry. After a decade as sales manager for four major cruise lines - I moved to England and studied Tourism Management, obtaining my Master's Degree in 2002. Returning home to California and a reunion with the love of my life, I began planning travel for a select clientele - a Travel Concierge, if you will - and named my venture: DEPARTURES! Specializing in custom itineraries and cruises, everything was going along just peachy until the economy tanked in 2008/2009. So this gives me the opportunity to write a little, and cook a little, travel a little, read alot but most importantly - Love ALOT more.
Interests Loving that Man 'o mine, Writing, obsessed with reading more than one book at a time, cooking, walks in the hills, historic houses and architechture, rock n roll music and concerts, theatre, travel, socializing with an amazing array of friends, animal welfare - cats in particular!
Favorite Movies Witness, Secret of Roan Inish, To Kill a Mockingbird, Powder, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Harry Potters, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, Dances with Wolves, Atonement.
Favorite Music Everything from 50's doo wop to disco. Rock a billy to some country (Garth Brooks, Taylor Swift). Love Roy Orbison and Robbie Williams. Enjoy opera (Andrea Bocelli, Pavorotti) to heavy metal (80's bands and the Cars) to English boys choirs, to my favourite: the Blues, like Eric Clapton. I could listen for hours to Fleetwood Mac, K.D. Lang, Joni Mitchell and Bonnie Rait. Just saw James Taylor and met the band backdstage, i.e. the worlds most renowed bass player: Lee Sklar. Elton John = excellent, Rolling Stones too fun, and of course the Beatles are and were the best band ever. The British Invasion brought the best sounds of the 20th century.
Favorite Books The Hungry Tide, The World According to Garp, The Shell Seekers, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Prince of Tides, Sense and Sensibility
