| Introduction | I was born with hereditary hearing loss and am profoundly deaf. I received no special education or services throughout my life and dealing with living in a hearing world has always been my burden alone to bear. This has given me the unique advantage of being equipped with the ability to see things from the hearing perspective, the hard-of-hearing perspective, the orally educated perspective, the late-deafened perspective, the CODA perspective, and now,the culturally deaf perspective. |
