Introduction James Kristie is the editor and associate publisher of Directors & Boards, a quarterly journal and a monthly online newsletter (the e-Briefing) of high-level leadership, governance, finance, legal, and strategic issues. He has been editor since 1981, and associate publisher since 1991. Directors & Boards has as its primary readership public-company directors, chairmen, CEOs, and other senior management and board advisers.
Interests He is a member of the CFA Institute and the national organization’s Philadelphia chapter. He was awarded the Philadelphia Prize for Investment Research (1998), sponsored by the Financial Analysts Society of Philadelphia (now CFA Society of Philadelphia), for the paper, “Timeline: The Evolution of 20th Century Corporate Governance.” For McGraw-Hill Book Co., he was the editor for Corporate Restructuring: A Guide to Creating the Premium-Valued Company, published in hardback in 1989. He earned his BA in journalism, summa cum laude, from Temple University in 1976. He returned to his alma mater in 2003 as an adjunct instructor in the university’s School of Communications and Theater. He serves on a number of the university’s advisory boards, including Temple University Press, one of the nation’s preeminent academic book publishers. He is a Viet Nam-era veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1972. He is regularly quoted in the major media and specialized business publications as an authoritative source on leadership issues. Directors & Boards, founded in 1976, is in its 33rd year of serving as the thought leadership publication in the corporate governance field.
