| Introduction | I love my town of Calistoga, where people come for the mud baths, massage, wine and food; all the incredible bounty that Napa Valley has to offer. My home is near a tree lined path that leads to the town’s main street, where Shayna, my sweet little puppy and I usually walk to the Coffee Roastery and waiting friends. I love being retired and having the time for my family especially my daughter, Ali and her son, Amir, and my extended family of friends. I also enjoy working on my art, assemblage, and have set up a studio in an add-on room next to my bedroom. Then a meteor dropped right into my life. Ever since Hunters fight for life began it became the fight of those who love him. On the upside what I have seen unfold is a precious friendship with my daughter (in-law) Ha, whom I love like my own and with my son, a closeness and deep friendship unlike any other we’ve had in the past. And on the other side, as any mother well knows, I feel what he feels, and having been through this disease although not quite as threatening nor painful I can use what I’ve learned. Hunter was my caretaker when I had cancer and I am so grateful I can be there for him now. |
