Industry Communications or Media
Occupation Disability advocacy
Location Washington, DC, United States
Introduction This blog began in 2014, the work of a vigorous, dedicated advocate (she/her/hers) focused on advancing rights and increasing opportunities for people with developmental disabilities in Washington, DC. I am the parent of a young man receiving supports from DC’s Department on Disability Services, a current member of the DDS Human Rights Advisory Committee, and a former chair of the DC Developmental Disabilities Council. In addition to advocating for full inclusion of people with disabilities in our local community, I strongly support statehood for DC, where I have lived since 1978, since without it no DC resident, disabled or non-disabled, will ever be fully empowered. Opinions in this blog are my own.
Interests DC statehood, local history, a capella singing
Favorite Books I read constantly and have belonged to the same book club since 2000. I read about equal amounts of fiction and nonfiction but would have a hard time picking specific favorite titles!
