About me

LocationMill Valley, California - Bay Area, United States
IntroductionMy involvement with Audubon Canyon Ranch (www.egret.org) nourished a budding interest in birding, and since my retirement from a career as an E.R. doctor I've developed a passion for birding and nature photography. Figured at age 70 it's time to start a blog! My earlier digiscoping was done with an 80mm Swarovski spotting scope, mostly with a 30X wide-angle zoom eyepiece, which gives a stunning view for birding and captures lots of light for DS pics. Our current scope, the Swarovski STX 85mm, allows me to focus to down to 12 feet, and the zoom eyepiece is simply superb. Right now I'm using the very slick DCB II adapter, which allows a variety of cameras to be mounted on a platform so that they can be centered quickly on the eyepiece. Current camera is the Nikon V1, with the 18.5mm Nikkor 1 lens. I've heard that the 11-27.5 V1 zoom also works with the DCB, but the kit lens (10-30mm) is too long.
