Introduction Complicated background aside, I love history, music, ballet, theater, football (both soccer and american), pretty much any kind of sports to be honest (even cricket), shopping, traveling and seeking out old buildings or gazing at ancient architecture.
Interests Read books, shop, watch old movies, shop, listen to John Coltrane, shop, plan my next trip, shop, plan my next meal, shop, watch sports, shop, browse collections of soundtracks in CD stores.
Favorite Music Jazz standards...give me the days of Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, Sammy Davis Jr. (bring back the rat pack!!) Anything by Russian composers, or Russian-American composers (go Stravinsky!) Musicals. My fave is The Scarlet Pimpernel...Douglas Sills was soooo good as Percy. Wish the show would run again...(sighs) To be honest, I'm quite a trash can when it comes to music, as in anything goes...I draw the line at industrial metal and weird stuff like Penderecki's Threnody to the Victims of Hiroshima (I had to study it for music class, but sorry, I just don't get it). Otherwise, everything's listenable where I'm concerned. And opera's splendid, except maybe Wagner. :P
Favorite Books Anna Karenina by Tolstoy or anything by Ayn Rand, though fave should still be Atlas Shrugged. Oh and trash romance novels, can I admit this in public, oh well whatever, trash and classics go together for me... Books on history (European, Chinese, Greek, Indian, Japanese, American, Russian, etc.), I really should have been a History major. Chinese classics and swordplay novels....fantastic reading, although it takes time to go through them since a novel can be several books in length. For e.g. Dream of the Red Chamber (one of the China's top 4 classics) goes on for 7 books.
