| Introduction | I've been my 93-year-old mother's IHSS caregiver since she first broke her right hip in 2018. Once she's gone, I will be out of a job and lose the last living relative who has ever given a shit about me. I'm 50, I'm totally fucked up myself, and once the bank comes to foreclosure our house, I'll be homeless as well. So I'm screwed to the max, yeah. Sucks to be me. Blame it on my father most of all, because he started this whole fucking nightmare. He and the rest of the world can fuck off. I went from an introverted Catholic kid to an agnostic, an atheist, and a diehard nihilist at present. Humanity is doomed to self-extinction. Primarily an Earth denizen. NYC born, then raised in 70s Cádiz, Spain. A hopeless romantic, I likely belong in the Age of Enlightenment. If pressed for an specific genre, I would say that I gravitate towards movies about people that form unlikely friendships and mutually benefit in the end. But I also like ones where the lead characters go out in a blaze of glory or recover their lost humanity. And I am always a sucker for a romantic ending. Example? The final scene with Jack and Sara in Cocoon: The Return. It is exquisite. |
