Introduction A native of Maine, I grew up in Denver as a child before returning to the East Coast. I attended day school (St. Bernard's) in New York City, prep school (Choate) in Connecticut, and college (M.I.T.) in Boston. I relocated back to Colorado in 1991 and moved to Golden in 1997. I became a Realtor in 2003, first with Coldwell Banker, then RE/MAX Alliance, before creating my own firm in 2007. My core career was journalism, from interning with the Washington Post in 1968 to founding and publishing community newspapers in Brooklyn NY in the 1980's. My majors at MIT were political science and history, so politics was always an interest, from running for student body president in college to running for city council and mayor in New York City in the 1980's. I used journalism to promote my candidacies and I use it now in my real estate career, writing a weekly column which is published each Thursday in the Denver Post's YourHub section. These columns are posted at www.GoldenREblog.com and archived as PDFs at www.JimSmithColumns.com, and I have about 1,000 email subscribers for it. This blog is for my political writings, which are archived at www.TalkingTurkey.online.
