| Introduction | I am a senior at Florida International University (FIU) working hard to progress towards a sucessful career in event planning and cross-cultural communications. In addition to my internship last summer with the Georgia State Games, I recently finished my term as vice president of chapter development for the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) These roles have given me an opportunity to gain hands on experience coordinating events. As vice president of Chapter Development, I created a bi-monthly lecture series with successful professionals each corresponding as guest speakers. The purpose of the “Hear it from the Experts!!!” series is to help public relations majors understand the difference between the separate fields of public relations. Each semester I have surveyed our members to find which industries they would like to learn more about. These surveys have helped to direct my focus towards which professionals to invite and how to organize the presentations. By doing so, my members have become more involved the school, the chapter and the path towards their personal careers. I am now interning at ME Productions. |
