| Introduction | Studio 73 is a Vertical Studio made up of students in ADS 7 and ADS 3. What is a Vertical Studio? The format will be similar to the successful studios conducted this past couple of years in which third and fifth-year students worked together in teams. The intent of the vertical studio is to combine the energy and enthusiasm of younger students with skills and knowledge of more advanced students and to learn from each other as well as from the faculty, critics and project experiences. This studio provides students with an experience of sharing design responsibilities similar to architectural practice. What is the project? We are committed to continuing studio work on the tropical Islands of Honduras--a rapidly developing area with many economic and environmental challenges. We will be designing an island Trauma and Health Center. Similarly we are committed to exploring, building and hands on testing ideas suitable for low impact, sustainable construction in the tropics. |
