Introduction	I was raised in the high-mountain desert of New Mexico where I used to collect iron particles with a magnet from arroyo beds (I was a strange child). I have swung on jungle vines and swam in anaconda-infested waters in the Amazon where I also made friends with a squirrel-monkey named Pepita. I became a rolex aficionado in Uganda (no, not the wristwatch) and picked up just enough Luganda phrases to get me into trouble. I have negotiated whitewater rapids of the River of No Return in the pacific northwest of the American continent, as well as the narrow maze of steep Granada streets in Andalucia. I survived college in arguably the most foreign of places, Utah. Given a choice between going by metro or boda boda, I'd go with the latter (almost) every time. Also, my favorite condiment is pesto.
