Interests Veteran New Mexico based journalist with stints at the Santa Fe and Las Cruces Bureaus of the "Albuquerque Journal, " the "Rio Grande Sun" in Española, the "Las Vegas (N.M.) Optic, " the "Las Cruces Sun News, " the "Alamogordo Daily News, " the "Ruidoso News" and the student newspaper at New Mexico State University (NMSU), "The Round-Up." Graduate of NMSU’s School of Journalism and a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Cold War in West Germany. As a freelance writer and photographer I've produced outdoor articles for the “Albuquerque Journal, ” Santa Fe New Mexican, ” Sandoval Signpost” and many other newspapers around the state. My work has been published in the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish magazine "New Mexico Wildlife" and the state Department of Tourism's "New Mexico" magazine. I've published my own blog "Outdoors New Mexico" since 2006. I have worked as a spokesperson in the non-profit and government sectors, produced and distributed news releases, researched and produced annual reports, monthly newsletters and meeting summaries. I have scripted and recorded radio ads, conducted live television and radio interviews and assisted the public during promotional and educational events. I have participated in project management, contract compliance, evaluation, audits and grant writing. I've held jobs as a short order cook, grocery store clerk, auto and truck mechanic, bus and delivery truck driver, construction carpenter, painter and handyman. I’ve served as a newspaper reporter, photographer, news editor, managing editor and publisher during my media career. My outside interests include fishing, camping, hiking, cycling, cooking, gardening, photography, reading and travel.
