| Introduction | Hello, my name is Candice Boese and I am currently studying Service Learning at Brock University. Yes, at first glance Service Learning may seem like not a very interesting choice and might appear to be quite boring, but I promise you that it is not as you think. I've lived in the Niagara-on-the-Lake for my whole life and not once had I really considered what I was contributing to my beloved community. As a result of taking this course, I have learned so much about the importance of getting involved and finding out more about the things going on around you and really just being informed. Before taking this class, I never would have attended an Amnesty International meeting, or gone to a viewing of The Cove, or attended a Roman Catholic Church service. And even though these events may not appear to be super interesting, it's not always about how much something interests you. To me, it's rather about meeting people who are so passionate about they do, which encourages other to peruse the issues or causes that they are passionate about. |
