| Introduction | I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Sept of 2011. Age 48. I had a clear mamogram 4 months earlier. I had lumpectomy and lymph node surgery on Oct 27, 2011. My cancer is HER2+ which has a tendancy to spread. So I will be on chemo for the rest of my life. When I was first diagnosed, the cancer had already spread to my liver. (12 tumors). I started a very strong chemo in Nov 2011 which made me very sick. Seven months later, June 2012, the liver showed clear. In March 2013, I began having headaches and a brain MRI showed 4 tumors. I had 3 weeks of daily radiation in April 2013 and had Gamma Radiation done in Greenville in August 2013. Chemo was switched to one recently approved by the FDA called TDM1 (Kadcyla). A brain MRI was done in Oct 2013 which shows the tumors still shrinking and are very small. As far as work goes..I was employed with a county job which I loved, but as of Apr 2012 I was no longer able to work. I live with my parents now. I believe with the support and prayers of family and friends and the Lords mercy and grace that this battle will be won! |
