Introduction | I'm 28 years old and a woman I worked with last year thought I was in my thirties. I had just turned 28 and my mom always told me I had a "baby face." Imagine my shock at hearing this woman's musing over my age. I quickly figured out that the only reason this woman thought I was older than I was is because my body looks older than it is-- I have a matronly figure. I will be thirty in a little over a year and I am going to be both hot and healthy. I've struggled with my weight since I was a kid. Really, I was on my first diet at 5 years old. Over the years, I've lost and gained probably hundreds of pounds. No exaggeration. This time I am going to lose the weight for good. And maybe discover why I have lost and gained so much in past. Join me on this journey-- let's figure out why we both have struggled with our weight and body image together. |
Interests | Reading, writing, and movie-going. I also enjoy traveling, to historical locations especially, and my dog (Max). I love children and my husband, Nathan, is my soul mate. (Unlucky in weight, lucky in love!) |
Favorite movies | So many... Titanic was always a favorite as a younger person. I really liked Avatar recently... enjoyed Julie and Julia. |
Favorite music | Anything upbeat without too many cuss-words that I can work out to is fantastic-- I find I don't move nearly as quickly on the elliptical without a little audio inspiration! I love classic songs, too: Etta James, At Last and Norah Jones are some of my favorites to chill out, too. BTW-- I love to sing along. Join me in some "Jackie-oke" sometime! |
Favorite books | Good in Bed, by Jennifer Weiner-- and pretty much anything else written by who I consider to be the best fiction writer today. Love several classics, including: Great Expectations, The Great Gatsby, and Shakespeare's plays (Othello, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth and Twelfth Night are my favs by the Bard). Some of my recent favorites included: The Help, No One Knows Me, Finally Thin, The Last Song, The Host. My tastes are varied! |
When your science teacher smashed a frozen rose with a hammer, did you warm the petals to bring them back to life?
Of course I did! I'm a terrible romantic and would never want to see a beautiful rose demolished. I breathed life into the frozen petals.
