IntroductionI'm Kelly, a third-year PhD student at Queen's University Belfast, deeply immersed in the fascinating field of criminology. My academic journey has been anything but conventional. It all began with an adult access course at a college in Portadown, where one inspiring teacher ignited my passion for learning and encouraged me to pursue higher education. That experience led me to Queen's University for my BA in Criminology, followed by a Master's in Criminology and Criminal Justice at Ulster University. Now, I’m back at Queen’s, pushing the boundaries of my research as I work towards my PhD.Beyond academia, I’m a proud mum of seven wonderful children and a grandmother to four beautiful grandchildren. Originally from England, Northern Ireland has been my home for over a decade, and it’s where I’ve found both personal and professional fulfilment. This blog is a space where I share the highs and lows of my journey to a PhD. Whether you’re a fellow academic, a working parent, or simply interested in criminology, I hope my experiences resonate with you. Thank you for joining me on this adventure!
