| Introduction | I am an innovator, assessing situations and envisioning systems and approaches that engage and enrich people in ways many do not believe possible. I embrace the words of Paul Saffo who says “never mistake a clear view for a short distance.” My accomplishments come through frequent course corrections, tacking and jibing, persistently holding to a clear vision of sometimes fog-shrouded targets. I subscribe to Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s believe that actions spring not from thought, but from a readiness for responsibility. My achievements are marked by my full resources behind my ideas. I relish perplexing situations. I led with new approaches as a mathematics teacher in Iowa, as a developer of elementary and high school textbooks in collaboration with the nation’s major publishers and most recently as an entrepreneur in the emerging digital news industry. I reside in Rockport, ME and hold a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in mathematics from the University of Northern Iowa, and a doctorate in administration of educational research and information systems from the University of Iowa. I am a graduate of the Harvard University Business School Owner/President Management Program. |
