| Introduction | I am a 1.5 Pinay, born in the Philippines and grew up in California but always hovering in the in-between spaces. Over the years, I have grown to appreciate being in the margins and the nooks and crannies that provide a moral compass. Food allows me to tell stories as I try to savor but also figure out life's umami. I have learned that even in the absence of umami, the imagination can help fill in the void. |
