| Introduction | The FLICKERS: Rhode Island International Film Festivalâ„¢ is the largest festival in New England, screening 175 titles in seven days with an attendance in 2011 topping 28,000. Entries came from 53 countries, and 33 states in the United States. There were 35 World Premieres and 23 US Premieres. A total of 21 Narrative Features, 49 Feature Documentaries, 135 Short Films were screened. Following months of adjudication and review, Festival films were selected from over 4,500 submissions. RIIFF is considered "one of the most exciting new festivals to come along" says Chris Gore in the "Ultimate Film Festival Survival Guide." It is also a qualifying festival for the Short Film Academy Award through its affiliation with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. RIIFF is the only festival in New England with this accolade. |
