IntroductionBaltimore born & bred, hon. When I was a teenager my family moved to Alabama. It was a culture shock, but I have to credit it for helping me discover my love for running. The XC team at my new school needed girls, so I gave it try. The 1st practice was in 90' heat. I almost vomited. Still, there was something appealing about pushing myself to that point. It also didn't hurt that my sister and I each won several state titles. For college I went on to Harvard, where I ran xc & track and studied psychology. I took a 2 year break from running after college but got sucked back in as a grad student at American. I found it easy to combine training with the flexible schedule of grad school. After finishing my PhD in 2011 I took another break from running as I found my footing in the professional world of psychology. I'm now a clinical psychologist who does both cognitive testing & therapy. In late 2013 I returned to competitive running and am now focused on marathon training. My ultimate goal is to qualify for the Olympic trials. I have to shave 8 min 15 sec off my PR to do so. This blog documents my progress and other realizations related to competitive running and general wellness.
