| Introduction | I am a curious mix – son, husband, father, grandfather, regular “Joe,” retired chief of police, teacher, former child abuse investigator, business owner, and writer - with a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice, and an M.S.A. in Public Administration. Why do I write? Because of need – mine, yours, and others; because there is an incredible world of hurt out there; because experiences not shared are “islands unto themselves” and we aren’t meant to live, hurt, heal, work, laugh, cry, or love alone; because there are voices – young and old, living and dead – that should be heard; because there are stories that need telling; because it helps. And because at times, one voice can raise up over the din and dust that envelope life and contribute something - for the masses or just for the one; for those here now or for those yet to come – that makes the path easier, better, richer, lighter, more wonderful, less burdensome, less lonely, more meaningful. |
