Introduction | Old age: one moment it’s a future possibility, and the next it’s a cold, hard, fast approaching fact. Looking back it seems as though one night I went to bed as a 25 year old with a head of thick, black hair and a wrinkle-free face. Only to wake as a 62 year old with more wrinkles than a raisin, a head that was 80% parting, 20% hair, and half the lung power that I once had. It took first my father’s death in 2008 and then my own brush with forever courtesy of covid pneumonitis and ARDS, to make me understand time will carry me too, inexorably towards the last of my tomorrows and whatever lies beyond. In the meantime I intend to use whatever time I have left, to get as fit as I possibly can, to allow me to do as much as I can under my own steam for as long as I can. If you've been seriously ill, and are chronically de-conditioned or are just very, very unfit, why don't you join me on my journey back to fitness. Maybe we can find some inspiration from each other. |
