| Introduction | Following the passing of my aunt I received the handwritten notes she had made researching our family history to support her application to the Daughters of the American Revolution. This kick started my very often frustrating and, sometimes, extremely rewarding pursuit. While my maternal line was comparatively easy to trace, my paternal line ended in a roadblock with Nathaniel Davis (b. 1764 d. 1849). He was an orphan who couldn't remember his birth name. |
