| Introduction | January 27th, 2009, I stood in the mirror after my shower trying to determine what I could do to make THIS birthday more significant. I was miserable and needed a change. To my disgust, I saw lots of opportunities for improvement both inside and out. It makes me laugh today because it was like being an actor in a movie that played in slow motion, except I needed to act NOW before I developed diabetes like my father. I took my vow seriously - I knew I deserved a healthier life. My first step was to grab a digital camera and take a few shots of myself. Though these pictures didn't leave the camera right away, I referenced them daily and stayed focused on the task at hand…GET BACK IN SHAPE! To date, I've lost 59 pounds but what I've gained - happiness, health, and hope is worth so much more.... |
