Introduction Welcome to Sassafras Creek Orignals. Your source for Early American Folk Art and Gameboards. I started Sassafras Creek in 1994 after seeing an old gameboard in an antique store. It was too expensive so I decided to see if I could make one for myself. It turned out so well I started taking them to shows and my work has been featured in several magazines including Early American Life, House & Garden, Town & Country and St.Louis Homes. I have been chosen twice for Early American Life's Annual Directory of Top 200 American Craftsmen in 2005 and 2007 and was recently featured again in their magazine for the Christmas 2010 issue. All items are hand-made by me using decorative motifs from the Colonial period through the Civil War. Most of my artwork has a Pennsylvania Dutch look attributinig to my German heritage. All of the gameboards come with playing pieces in a little muslin drawstring bag which looks like old seed bags or tobacco bags.
