InterestsExpanding my mind through reading, listening, watching and experiencing as much good stuff as I possibly can. And vegging out online when I'm not doing that or watching sport on telly.
Favorite moviesAside from the obvious SF geekery such as the original Star Wars trilogy or the derring do of the Indiana Jones trilogy most of my favourites tend to be have a great questioning British humour about them - think Life of Brian or Withnail and I, that sort of thing. More a telly fan really though, Doctor Who's the all time favourite but otherwise it's stuff like Twin Peaks, Press Gang, Blackadder, X Files, Buffy, The Avengers, Sapphire & Steel, Heroes, Lost, 24, West Wing etc etc. Oh and corking documentaries like Modern History of Britain, Seven Ages of Rock...
Favorite musicWell I'm primarily an overgrown Indie Kid of the 80s and 90s but otherwise I'm fairly eclectic. But I'm not keen on genre-ising music so I jsut say 'quality' and mention R.E.M., Blur, Super Furry Animals, Motown, Public Enemy, Bowie and end up listing more artists than generaly healthy.
Favorite booksAgain I try to be fairly eclectic, anything that takes my fancy. Got all the Who books, like a bit of Dickens, Gaiman, Pratchett, Pullman, Michael Chabon, Kurt Vonnegut, Douglas Adams, Paul Magrs, Iain Banks, David Mitchell, Jasper Fforde, and any book which can talk intelligently about aspects of sport This tends to end up being cricket.

You've got to make contact with the alien leader. How will you tell when the conversation is finished?

Like President Jack Nicholson could tell in Mars Attacks...
