| Introduction | I am a poet, and I embrace poetic communities wherever they exsist! I believe in the intrinsic value of all living things. I believe that there is much humans can teach each other if we really listen. Also, 'nature' teaches us as well, when we listen. I follow political and social events closely. I have been told that some of my statements and beliefs make me seem "intense", and I suppose sometimes I am. However, I can be 'light-hearted,' and I like to have fun like everyone else! |
| Interests | Reading, movies, writing poetry, music: jazz, rock (especially classic), bodies of water, philosophy, long walks. |
| Favorite movies | Recent: "Slumdog Millionaire", "The Wrestler." Obscure: "Heaven" Classic: "On the Waterfront," "River Niger," "Husbands," "La Strada." Foreign: "Secrets and Lies" (It's pretty clear, I guess, that I support the "underdogs" in film.) |
| Favorite music | Anything by Thelonius Monk, Miles Davis, Sade, Rickie Lee Jones, Van Morrison, Sara Vaughn, and the Gypsy Kings. Any Classic Rock from the sixties, and seventies, is my favorite. "Flamenco" is also my favorite. Also, I like a bit of rap and hip-hop: Jay-Z, Ne-yo; and I enjoy a lot of 'independent' artists, and 'street musicians.' |
| Favorite books | Anything by the Poets: Pablo Neruda, Claude McKay, Walt Whitman, Nikki Giovanni, Jack Hirschman, and Baudelaire. "Mystic River", by Dennis Lehane, anything written by Toni Morrison, particularly, "Beloved", and "Song of Solomon". I also love mysteries; particularly "Lost Light", City of Bones," and "Trunk Music," all by Michael Connolly. |
