| Introduction | I am a businessman turned socially-concerned citizen. In 1997, I began working as a part time volunteer guardian ad-Litem (GAL) for Hennepin County, Minnesota. A guardian is a court appointed child advocate for children in the child protection system. I now know about 50 children who have passed through child protection. Two of those children have been in my life for six to eight years. The experience has been astounding. I now know that a very large part of my community’s population suffers from bad laws and very poor understanding of what the real issues are. Observations on this weblog will mostly deal with my work with abandoned and neglected children and the data gathering I do related to children’s issues. My dream is to create a growing awareness through a grassroots movement for abused and neglected children that will have an impact on the laws and social awareness that will affect their lives. |
