| Introduction | I have always wanted to be a jeweler when I grow up, but I learned from my mother's example that the things we do with our time should be useful. I always fretted that making jewelry would never change someone's life, so I became a teacher instead. Then the most amazing thing happened. I thought of a way to spend my spare time making jewelry with a purpose- I would just give all the money away ;) I have raised over $9,000 for Cystic Fibrosis and other charities. http://lissabird.etsy.com Since I am lucky enough to stay home with my daughter these days, I have also been working diligently on my book about my mother's mental illness, and my own journey with chronic pain. I know my story will help other people, if I ever manage to get it published... |
