About me

Occupation Historic Preservationist
Location New York City/Old Westbury, L.I., United States
Introduction I grew up in Old Westbury surrounded by many of these estates and given how quickly they are disappearing along with the rest of old Long Island, I set out to document as much of it as I could. Some of these estates are open to the public, others are private residences that I was fortunate enough to view. The rest constitutes ongoing research to dig up everything I can on what we have and had. The information and old pictures come from a variety of sources, namely the SPLIA book, the Spinzia books, the New York Public Library, the Smithsonian Archives, the Library of Congress and a number of old magazines and books. The vast majority of the color photos were taken by myself. I received a B.A. in history from the New School and a M.S. in historic preservation from the Pratt Institute. I really appreciate anything that has been sent to me along the way, all of the help has been tremendous. You can email me at
