IntroductionI have been an ordained minister for almost 44 years. All the ministries in which I have served have been marked by developing disciples of Jesus who serve others according to the Word and in the power of the Spirit. These have included working with homeless and drug-addicted people in Wichita, Seattle, and Denver, empowerment ministries to poor families in the Appalachian area of New York, war-ravaged churches and families in Croatia, multi-ethnic inner-city ministries in Denver, disaster relief and central African immigrants in Cedar Rapids. I may be officially retired as a Presbyterian pastor, but I am not finished serving Jesus, his followers, and those who are seeking the truth. I live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where I am involved in three primary ministries: River of Life ministries, a congregation with international outreach; Come Rest Ministries, a renewal ministry in the tradition of St. Francis; and Serve The City, a community service coalition of over 40 evangelical churches. I am married to Jacquelyn Jackson, and have five children (three adopted), ranging from a 27 year old daughter (graduate of Biola University) to a 9 year old daughter, with three boys in between.
