Occupation | 8th Grade Public School Teacher |
Introduction | After growing up as a homeschooled, Mennonite pastor's kid, moving to the Eastern Shore as an 8th grade public school English teacher 6+ years ago was a bit of a culture shock. From police dog searches to parental requests for the "teacher with the halo" (in reference to my covering), teaching is never boring. When I moved to the Shore I realized how much I missed my family discussions, so I started blogging as an outlet. Two writers have profoundly impacted my thinking and writing: Henri Nouwen's statement that we "minister above all with our weakness" has challenged me to be more vulnerable, and Miroslav Volf's argument that nonresistance must be based on a Warrior God "who is angry at injustice" has pushed me to be more confrontational. |
