Introduction | Hi, I'm Melissa, Food Tech & R&D Manager. I graduated with a BS in Food Science from Mississippi State University. My passion for the Food Industry was given by birth: My Father is a retired Professor of Animal & Dairy Science, and taught numerous classes including: Meats Judging, Performance Analysis, and Composition and Chemical Reaction of Foods. My sister is a HACCP Coordinator. My Mother has worked for the USDA Agricultural Research Service for over 30 years. I began assisting with graduate student research at the MS State Food Science Department straight out of highschool. I participated on the Dairy Products Judging Team, under the direction of former Professor Head Dr. Charles White, placing 1st regionally, 3rd nationally in competition. After college I began a career with Baskin Robbins learning production control, quality assurance, and MRP system development. I began a relationship with and developed a passion for ice cream. My love of inclusions and the chemistry of sugar were a natural progression. I find inspiration for the development of new foods from my fascination for how food affects the human condition. |
