| Introduction | It is difficult to write a portmanteau in a language you don’t speak. But we both looooooove puns. So when two unmarried women (Fräulein) share a cynical sense of humor (Schadenfreude), they create a blog. And they call it Schadenfrauleins. Yes, we know the German grammar is incorrect. One of us parles français, and one hablas Español. We don’t so much care. But we do wish to keep our anonymity, at least a bit. And pen names are great fun. Who wants to be Bill Porter when you can be O. Henry? Or Charles Dodgson when you could be Lewis Carroll? It’s worked for Lemony Snicket. So pocket-sized Hermia and Naomi de Plume were born. Welcome to the Dark Side, people. Pull up a drink. |
