Introduction Author, lecturer and the founder of Jonathan Sheppard Books (www.jonathansheppardbooks.com), Meldon J. Wolfgang III served as a Peace Corps volunteer teacher, a local and state government administrator, a public library trustee, & a trustee adviser to one of the country’s first intergovernmental archives. An active and avid genealogist and family historian since 1961, Mel has been writing the genealogy column for the New York State Archives Partnership Trust's quarterly magazine “Archives” since 2005. He has taught and lectured about genealogy and family history around the US and Canada since the mid-1970s. He is also a past president (and until 2012, the archivist) of the Executive Council of the Kappa Alpha Society, the oldest college social fraternity in North America. When he was much, much smaller, even his mother frequently reminded him that he talked a lot. Now, people pay him to do it.
