| Introduction | Mrs. Daugherty and Mrs. Turner are the two Kindergarten teachers at North Tama Elementary. The room is a co-taught room, which is very beneficial for differentiated instruction and a variety of teaching styles. This year we started Daily 5 to become better readers and more independent as students. Our centers are Read to Self, Read to Someone, Listen to Reading, Work on Words, and Work on Writing. We first taught each center for one week and after each center was taught we mixed them altogether and do each center for 10 minutes (total of 50 minutes). Our behavior tool we use is the red, yellow, and green light. Green light is our daily goal. We get the green light when our students are showing good character and strong academics. Yellow light is a warning. The students receive this light when things start to get out of control as a class. Red light is our negative behaviors. The students receive this light when they've been given warnings and behavior hasn't changed. We make classroom goals and once we reach our goal we celebrate it with a variety of parties/celebrations! |
