IntroductionHERE'S SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT: Whilst in the bush, a rebellion leader will always have a negative publicity in the West and many International arrest warranty or sanctions- economical or travel- will be imposed. Once in power, the same rebel leader is greeted by the West as hero, a man they can do business with. Emboldened by this, such a rebel leader may change the national anthem, currency, flag and, sometimes even the name of the country; and will also run what is essentially a VICTOR's form of JUSTICE against the ousted side. HERE'S THE AGONIZING BIT: As the Western money, goods and services are cycled between (a) Weapons for rebels; (b) Post-civil war or post-armed conflict rebuilding contracts; (c) Weapons for the defeated government now in bush trying to slowly fight its way back; and (d) Weapons for the newly victorious rebellion which is trying to establish a Weapon-Minded-Deterrent against their enemies, the West, albeit may be unconsciously, fuel the foresaid cycle. Thence despicable poverty and collapse of public institutions in almost most parts of Africa. Why not taking a few minutes to pray for us today? u44sm5@abdn.ac.uk
